Participants of Russian Industry Week see sustainable development in digital transformation of industry

The programme of supporting events of the first Russian Industry Week, which started at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, was opened by the Plenary Session on Digital Transformation of the Industry: a Path to Sustainability.

The plenary session is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO, assisted by the Expert Council on Scientific and Technological Development and Intellectual Property of the Russian State Duma and operated by PRIORITET OOO.

In the course of the discussion, the sources of strategic development of the manufacturing industry up to 2035, effective tools for maximum adaptation of production in the COVID-crisis, the issues of technological revolution in the post-pandemic economy and additive production in the conditions of the pandemic, successful practices of implementation of digital tools at industrial enterprises were considered. 

The moderators of the plenary session were Vladimir Kononov, Member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the NTI Expo technological platform and Sergey Selivanov, Director of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Committee on Exhibition, Fair and Convention Activities.

In his welcoming speech, Sergey Selivanov praised the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade for its great efforts to support industrial enterprises during the pandemic to minimize negative consequences. According to him, good results were achieved, among other things, through the use of digital platforms and services.

Alexey Uchenov, Director of the Department for Strategic Development of the Manufacturing Sector of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, reminded that in June 2020 the strategy of the manufacturing sector development up to 2024 was adopted and approved by the Russian Government. While forming the strategy, the accents were made on the construction of inter-sectoral balances and improvement of the system of response to economic, ecological and biological challenges.

Nikita Utkin, Chairman of the Cyber-Physical Systems TC 194, referring to the formation of an ecosystem of normative and technical regulation of digital industry as a tool of technological transformation of the economy, quoted Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation: "According to the research results, standardisation, on which the success of digital transformation directly depends, is able to bring to the country’s GDP up to 1% and about 3% in the development of exports. We hope that this will become a starting point for active development and implementation of digital solutions in industrial production".

Sergey Salikhov, First Vice-Rector of MISIS National University of Science and Technology, made a report on the features of digital transformation of the mining and metallurgical industry and the contribution of universities.  "The creation of digital twins of mining deposits is a direct way to change and improve the economy of production," - the speaker said.

He drew attention to the created digital platform for transport process control, which managed to remove from the quarries almost all drivers of dump trucks. "Now dump trucks are controlled by artificial intelligence. This solution allows to significantly optimise technological processes in open-pit mining", - added Sergey Salikhov.

Timur Irtuganov, General Director of the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia, emphasised the role of the Federal Forestry Agency: "The Federal Forestry Agency has the greatest experience in digitalisation of the industry, because they were the first to receive the order to create a unified information system, the development of which was launched almost 7-8 years ago. Today EGAIS Forest is one of the most competent and detailed developments".  

Sergey Radkov, a representative of MMC Norilsk Nickel, Vasily Boitsov, Vice-President for Technical Development of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, and Dmitry Eliseev, Deputy Director for IT of the United Engine Corporation, shared successful practices of implementing digital tools at their enterprises.

On the first day of the leading woodworking exhibition Lesdrevmash 2020, running within the Week at a single venue of EXPOCENTRE along with the Technoforum 2020 exhibition and the new Rusweld 2020 show, the 12th International Congress and Conference on Biofuel – Bioenergy: Biofuel CHP and Boilers, Production of Pellets, Briquettes and Wood Chips, conference on recycling of furniture, woodworking materials and products and seminar on IT in woodworking were held.

Participants of the conference held within Rusweld 2020, the new exhibition for welding and cutting equipment, technologies and materials, dedicated their speeches to the smart production and analysis of domestic and foreign experience. The Seminar on How to Robotize Production and the Panel on Ecosystem of Regional Development were held.

On the first day of the Week the award ceremony of TECNOforumLEADER 2020 competition with participation of all groups of producers and consumers of large industrial and private sectors and other significant events took place.
