Personnel training is a prior task for machine building development

25 / 10 / 2022

The Expert Council on Scientific and Technological Development and Intellectual Property under the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education and EXPOCENTRE AO held a Strategic Session on Training for the Machine Building Industry as part of Russian Industry Week 2022.

The session was moderated by Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Chairman of the Central Council of VOIR, Chairman of the NTI Expo Organising Committee.

Preceding the discussion, he noted that the current stage of the Russian machine building industry is characterised by a number of problems. These include insufficient development of technology and innovation exchange between the defence and civil engineering industries, insufficient development of marketing to retain and conquer new markets, and insufficient human resources. A comprehensive solution to these problems is only possible with the coordinated action of the government, ministries, public and private industrial enterprises.

Vladimir Kononov cited data from the Ministry of Economic Development, according to which manufacturing output in November 2021 increased by 9.2% compared to the pre-pandemic November 2019. At the same time, there was a staff shortage of 3.6% of the total workforce. Therefore, the task of carrying out a new industrialisation, he is convinced, cannot be solved without an outstripping growth in the training of technical professionals.

Sergey Selivanov, First Deputy Director General, welcomed the participants in the session and the entire Russian Industry Week 2022 on behalf of EXPOCENTRE AO. He stressed that all EXPOCENTRE's own exhibitions are in one way or another connected with the promotion and demonstration of scientific and technical developments, including those of young scientists, with the promotion of advanced ideas, popularisation of working professions and cooperation with the leading universities of our country.

This interaction also applies to the organisation of expositions and the conference programmes of the exhibitions, which are of interest to the entire science and education community. This year three large-scale projects of EXPOCENTTRE AO - Russian Industry Week, Russian Week of High Technologies, Russian Health Care Week - are included in the general plan of events for the Decade of Science and Technology (2022-2031) announced by the President of Russia. The exhibitions are an effective platform for the demonstration and promotion of scientific developments, their introduction into production and everyday life, concluded Sergey Selivanov.

Legislators, heads of the leading universities and industry experts took part in the topic discussion and exchange of opinions and expertise.
